Founded in 2001, Vein Centers for Excellence (VCFE) is the premier network of physician-owned Vein Treatment Centers in the United States. The business support and expertise provided by the corporate management team at VCFE allows our physicians to achieve both the highest level of clinical care and professional success available in the industry.

We are proud of the diverse physician membership represented within the VCFE network, which includes both industry pioneers who have been treating venous disease for years, as well as physicians who are newer to this developing field. 

The physicians in our network are fully supported by the VCFE corporate staff, who are all industry experts working towards the clinical and professional success of each and every practice in our group. Mike Barnell, CEO
Mike Barnell is the CEO of Vein Centers for Excellence and one of the original founders of the organization.  Mike oversees the operations of the entire organization and is responsible for individual practice management consulting and corporate strategy and development.  Mike is also President and a co-owner of Precision Practice Management Company, a key business partner to VCFE that provides all of our medical billing and collections software and support.  Mike received both his law degree (JD) and MBA from Cornell University.

Steve West, COO
Steve West is the COO of Vein Centers for Excellence.    Steve manages the day-to-day operations of the company and is also responsible for the financial reporting and accounting operations for each of our member practices.  Steve has more than 30 years’ experience in both operations management and in accounting and most recently served as a Vice President of Finance and Operations in the manufacturing industry.  Steve holds his BS degree from the University of Missouri – St. Louis, and has obtained his Certificate in Management Accounting (CMA).

Isadore (Ike) Lampke, General Counsel
Ike serves as the corporate attorney for Vein Centers for Excellence.  He is one of the original founders of the organization and oversees all contractual agreements.   Ike specializes in the areas of Health Care, Real Estate and Business Law.  He received his BA from Saint Louis University and his law degree (JD) from Washington University.

Tracie Dauplaise, RVT, Clinical Director
Tracie Dauplaise is the Clinical Director for Vein Centers for Excellence.  Tracie joined VCFE in February 2007, after working in private vein clinics and a vascular surgeon’s office.  She has assisted in over 3000 endovenous ablation procedures and performed over 10,000 venous ultrasound mappings.  A Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) since 1997, Tracie has been working in the field of Phlebology since 1988, and has been a member of the American College of Phlebology since 1998.  She currently serves as the Chair of the ACP Ultrasonography Section, and is an ACP faculty member, speaking and presenting at both regional symposiums and annual congresses.  Tracie’s goal as clinical director is to provide the best clinical support possible through on-site training in ultrasound, procedures, and assistance setting up the back-office.

Angela Murnin, Marketing Director
Angela Murnin is the Marketing Director for Vein Centers for Excellence.  Angela joined VCFE in 2005, after spending 12 years with JWT Advertising, where she held various Client and Managing Director positions in their Boston, Atlanta, and St. Louis offices.  Her areas of expertise included client development, office operations, media planning and brand development.  Angela drives media planning and implementation, creative development, and search engine optimization for each VCFE location, and works closely with each office in the new patient tracking and cost-per-lead reporting to ensure a cost-effective marketing effort.  Angela graduated from Saint Louis University with a BA in Advertising.

Joan Stacy, Billing Operations Director
Joan Stacy is the Billing Operations Director for Vein Centers for Excellence.  Joan joined VCFE in 2005 with over 15 years experience in the field of Practice Management and Management Consulting.  Her background includes five years as a Director of Operations at a Managed Care Organization, which included management responsibilities of the nursing and clerical staff in the pre-cert/pre-auth division, and four years as a Manager of Medical Information at a third party administrator claims processing company where she managed the Medical Review Department.  Joan’s role with VCFE is to provide support to all member practices, so that each office maintains a positive cash flow and rapid turn-around time on all insurance claims.  She also serves as the liaison between each practice and the third party billing company and works to resolve all billing issues.
